Toro y Moi (aka Chaz Bear) recently announced the followup album to his funk-filled 2017 release Boo Boo by dropping the audibly sweet track “Freelance.” The new record Outer Peace will be out January 18, and according to a press release it’s his most pop influenced album to date. Given how infectious “Freelance” is, we would tend to agree.
Well, lucky for us, Toro y Moi premiered tracks from Outer Peace on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic and you can get a sneak peek of the anticipated 2019 album by listening to the full session right now (setlist below). During the interview, Chaz talks about how his shifting creative identity influenced Outer Peace, as well as dabbling in sonic territory more closely associated with artists like Frank Ocean or Travis Scott.
