Vermont: Artist You Should Know

Written by

Tapping into the sublime (subliminal?) qualities of their craft as designers of ecstatic dancefloor bangers, Innervisions’ Marcus Worgull and Danilo Plessow (aka Motor City Drum Ensemble) have joined forces to create something that seemingly flies in the face of their identities; calm meditative New Age synthscapes that are equal parts post-Kraut Cosmiche, Yellow Magic Orchestra and 90s chillout.

SO INTOIT.

The collaborative project, called Vermont, is the product of a decidedly informal series of jam sessions, where the two allowed themselves to simply build and play using a studio full of vintage analogue synths.

The result is an extraordinarily chill album of minimal, droney but lushly emotive melodic tracks that elicit warm vibes and sound like a shared dream.

There’s no real indication as to whether this will be an ongoing project or a one off, but I truly hope they keep going as Vermont’s debut full length LP (forthcoming on the always righteous Kompakt) is one of 2014s best surprises.

Chill.
