Glancing around the studio during Cherry Glazerr’s set, there was not a still body in sight. Everyone present appeared to be lost in the music in some way, shape, or form — head nodding, foot stomping, even one instance of downright thrashing came instantaneously as the SoCal rock quartet began charging through their potent set of cuts from 2023’s I Don’t Want You Anymore and a handful of back catalog faves.
Since forming the project in 2013 (and naming it after KCRW’s own Chery Glaser), frontwoman Clementine Creevy has deepened her Riot Grrrl and garage rock-rooted sounds while maintaining all of the sharp edges. The band — Creevy (vocals, guitar), Sami Perez (bass), Luke MacDonald (keys), and Nick Pillot (drums) — dive in head first to deliver cathartic jams about the complexities of relationships, mental health, and just… ya know… life.
Scrub to 02:06:24 to get right to the goods, and enjoy Creevy catching up with KCRW’s Raul Campos about evolving her sound, exposing secret pre-show rituals, and boys.
