Brooklyn trio Nation of Language has been delivering track after track of galvanizing synth-pop since the release of their acclaimed debut “Introduction, Presence” last year. Their follow up, “A Way Forward,” is due out Nov. 5, and shows no signs of slowing that momentum.

After topping KCRW’s albums chart, the group brings us the world premiere of its latest single “This Fractured Mind,” out on all platforms tomorrow. The tune defamiliarizes old school synth trappings and brings the sound into the present — think Kraftwerk injected with the hot-blooded ache and existential anxiety of 2021.

“This is one of the songs where it's more directly visible how krautrocky bands and motorik pulses influenced what ‘A Way Forward’ ended up becoming,” songwriter Ian Devaney tells KCRW. “It's very much like highway driving, being on a train — fast, uninterrupted motion music.”
