Jul 11, 2025

Inglewood-native SiR is among the pioneers of a certain 2010s R&B sound; a little jazzy, representative of the LA beat scene, and imbued with Cali swag. His 2015 debut LP Seven Sundays—with production from Knxwledge and features from SiR’s brother D Smoke and soon-to-be-superstar Anderson .Paak—feels like more than just a first record. MBE host Novena Carmel describes it as: “The debut of a sound that a lot of people were inspired by.”

SiR went on to sign with Top Dawg Entertainment, pick up two Grammy nominations for his collab with Robert Glasper on “Back to Love,” and tour with heavy hitters like Kendrick Lamar, SZA, and Miguel. He also played Coachella in 2019. His most recent album, Heavy, dropped early last year and its staying power is palpable. Feel it for yourself as SiR headlines the Hollywood Bowl as part of KCRW Festival on Sunday, July 20. He’ll be supported by Leon Thomas and hosting duties will be performed by Travis Holcombe. If you act fast, you might even be the lucky winner of a box for four at this very special show. Get your name in the mix right here, right now.

Scroll on for SiR’s KCRW guest selects and press that player button on this page to learn more about the songs he’s sharing, his highly musical family (including his beloved late mother), and how he’s gearing up for his Hollywood Bowl spectacular.
