Hugh Masekela is mostly known as a South African trumpeter but his clarion call included activism and in 1980 Masekela lead a stadium-filled concert in Lesotho that challenged and defied the country’s apartheid regime, ultimately banning him. This show was legendary and recorded. A double-album has finally been reissued and features ‘Bajabula’ Bonke’ or The Healing Song. Please check out the podcast Lost Notes Season 3, Episode 5 which covers this story in depth.
