Curses: KCRW Guest Mix
Italo disco, post-punk, and new wave combine on this exclusive mix by the maestro of dance music’s darkest sounds.
Italo disco, post-punk, and new wave combine on this exclusive mix by the maestro of dance music’s darkest sounds.
For the past decade, Berlin-based DJ/producer Curses has been putting his own dark spin on dance music, drawing inspiration from cold wave, post-punk, and new wave for a heavy, sinuous sound all his own. His latest album, Another Heaven, was a 2024 standout and a must-listen for any fans of synth-addled sounds.
The guy knows his stuff: Curses contributed a Guide to New Beat and EBM genres to KCRW in 2021, coinciding with the release of his essential 38-track Next Wave Acid Punx compilation, a series that concluded this year with the release of its final chapter, Next Wave Acid Punx Revamps.
Since 2016, Curses has also run the label Ombra International, which specializes in mixing post-punk and new wave sounds with Italo and dark disco.
Curses graces LA this Saturday, March 15 with a gig at late-night party Sirens, alongside Mothermary performing live and DJ sets from Stacy Christine, Capes, and VILENA. Get a taste of what’s in store with his exclusive FREAKS ONLY guest mix.

SiLVA
A dance-forward mix that moves freely between house, disco, boogie, electronic music, global club sounds, and plenty in between. SiLVA’s sets are built for Saturday night, mixing new tracks, classics, edits, and deep cuts without getting boxed into one genre. The emphasis is on movement, surprise, and keeping the energy alive from one record to the next. Tune in to SiLVA Saturday evenings from 6 to 8pm.
Resident DJ
Immersion (Colin Newman and Malka Spigel) are our Resident DJs for October 2026.
Tyler "Boogie" Boudreaux
Part wax, part digital, pure heat. Tyler “Boogie” Boudreaux channels KCRW’s eclectic sound through a kaleidoscope of psych, garage rock, soul, funk, and indie sounds. Vintage records collide with new releases, while house, indie dance, post-punk, trip-hop, darkwave, and unexpected detours keep the boundaries loose. The common thread is energy, groove, and discovery, with one hand in the crates and the other firmly planted in what’s happening now. Tune in to Tyler’s show Thursday nights from 8 to 10pm.
