LA’s bag wars begin

L.A.’s city council might pass pass legislation later this month which puts puts the city on the path to banning single-use plastic bags, followed by paper bags. If it does, L.A. will become the nation’s biggest city to prohibit bags at supermarkets and convenience stores.

But there’s a big industry out there that makes all of those plastic bags that we use to carry our groceries home, and then maybe reuse to pick-up doggie doo doo. They’ve launched a public relations campaign to convince Angelenos and elected officials that the bag ban would be a bad idea. Here’s an example of what the campaign looks and sounds like.
