We don’t usually do traffic reports here (Kajon Cermak has that covered), but this week is going to see epic freeway closures. There will be partial and complete lane closures on the 405 throughout the week.

In the southbound lanes, partial closures will begin this evening at 7:00 p.m. from the 101 south to Getty Center Drive. In addition, all southbound lanes will be closed from midnight until 5:00 a.m. The same schedules goes for Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.

But wait, there’s more! Similar closures will happen on the northbound 405 lanes between Westwood and the San Fernando Valley on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, with all northbound lanes closing from midnight to 5:00 a.m.

For both north and southbound traffic, Sepulveda Boulevard will stay open as an alternate route, but expect congestion even in the wee hours.

The closures relate to the continuing work to expand the number of lanes on the 405 and reconstruct the Mulholland Bridge over the freeway.
