Noticed changes in LA air? More heat and humidity, less toxicity

Santa Monica beach is seen on a clear day, February 25, 2022. The air is cleaner than in the past — South Coast Air Quality Management District says ozone levels are at less than half of what they were in the 1950s. Photo by Amy Ta.

LA is on average more than 4 degrees Fahrenheit hotter than it was in the 19th century. Warmer air can hold more moisture, and the ocean is evaporating faster, which means extra humidity too.
