Over $24 million has been spent on this year's election by special interest groups. The record breaking independent expenditures are far more than the $16.7 million spent two years ago. But not every candidate is happy with the backing.

Independent groups have spent more than $24 million on this year's election. The money is coming from unions, oil companies and education reform groups, among others. But not every candidate is happy with the financial backing, the lack of control over their image and the message being delivered on their behalf.
