Can the Democrats get it together in time?

The race for the presidential nomination poses another stress test for the Democratic Party. With unity the essential requirement for defeating President Trump, too many candidates may stay in the contest too long.

Will Rogers famously said, "I'm not a member of any organized political party.... I'm a Democrat”--and the race for next year’s presidential nomination is running true to form. Multiple candidates are sniping against each other, and highly paid political consultants may not mind prolonging the action. Issues, including debate on climate change and criticizing Obamacare, have mobilized activists against the party establishment.
