Early Puberty in Girls

Hosted by
With girls in the US budding breasts at eight and entering puberty at nine, the age of menstruation drops every decade. Some doctors call early puberty a social catastrophe that catapults girls into sexual activity, even pregnancy, before they are emotionally prepared. Others call it a luxury of a well-fed society that doesn't merit drastic measures. Guest host Laurie Levenson talks with doctors, mothers and a talk-show host about the causes and implications of being a girl in a woman's body.
