He pled guilty to setting off a remote-controlled bomb that killed policeman Robert Sanderson and maimed nurse Emily Lyons. Blake Morrison, who wrote about Rudolph's letters from jail to his mother for USA Today, says Rudolph also awaits sentencing for bombing Olympic Park during the 1996 Olympics. Reporter's Notebook: Activist Groups Alarmed at Volume of FBI Files on Them Civil rights and antiwar protest groups say the Bush Administration is trying to stifle dissenters with political surveillance of legal activities, claiming the evidence is contained in thousands of pages of documents compiled by the FBI's Counterterrorism Division. Eric Lichtblau of the New York Times says the American Civil Liberties Union and Greenpeace accuse the FBI of blurring the distinction between terrorism and legitimate political protest.
