With Muslim Registration over, Can Bush Regain Arab American Vote?

In the aftermath of September 11, men from predominantly Muslim countries were required to register with federal officials. There were deportations that broke up families and created a climate of fear. Entire neighborhoods were devastated as thousands of other families sold homes, gas stations and restaurants and fled the country. But no charge involving terrorism ever was filed. So, the Bush Administration has abandoned the registration of men from Muslim countries, saying it has not made America safer. We hear about the impact on one family, on America-s image in the Muslim world and on Arab-American voters. Making News: President Bush Lifts Steel Tariffs President Bush has avoided trade wars with Europe, China and Latin America by canceling the tariffs he set almost two years ago on imported steel. Neil King, Washington correspondent for the Wall Street Journal, has more on the potential impact on the domestic steel industry and international trade. Reporter's Notebook: German Trial Questions Human Nature of Cannibalism Confessions of cannibalism by a German man on trial for murder have been circulated by news media all over the world. But what seem to be the demented ravings of a psychopath may be evidence of important truths most of us would rather ignore. Dr. Timothy Taylor, a professor of archeology at the University of Bradford, England, is author of The Buried Soul: How Humans Invented Death.
