Tenants Sue after Landlord Rents out Apartments on Airbnb

Hosted by

Carrie Kirshman lived for 21 years in LA's quaint and classic Fairfax District, protected by rent control. Then she and her neighbors were evicted under the Ellis Act, which allows landlords to get out of the rental business — as long as they stay out for five years. But, within weeks, Kirshman says her apartment was being advertised on Airbnb.
