The Conflict between Ethiopia and Somalia

Hosted by

Fighting continues in Somalia, after Ethiopian troops attacked Islamist forces there.  While Ethiopia wants to see the moderate transitional government of Somalia back in power, old regional rivalries threaten to spread the conflict. Do Islamic fundamentalists pose a real threat in eastern Africa? Is the unstable region a breeding ground for al Qaeda terrorists? Are humanitarian agencies able to cope with the number of refugees fleeing yet another war?  Guest host Sara Terry looks at the rise of Islamic fundamentalists in Somalia, the implications for the region, the west and the world.
