Schwarzenegger's Final Day Pardons
On his last night in office, former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger reduced the prison sentence of Esteban Núñez from 16 years to seven. Two years ago, Núñez was involved in a knife fight at San Diego State University, during which a 22-year-old man was stabbed to death. Núñez is now 21.

Two years ago, Núñez was involved in a knife fight at San Diego State University, during which a 22-year-old man was stabbed to death. Núñez is now 21. He’s the son of former Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez, a Democrat who worked closely with Schwarzenegger. It was only the tenth time in seven years that Schwarzenegger commuted a sentence.
