David Bowie came to KCRW in February 1997 and had a wide ranging conversation with Chris Douridas. He had just turned 50 and was in a reflective mood. As news emerged that Bowie had planned his last album Blackstar to be a parting gift for fans, an album released just as he was expecting to succumb to the cancer he had been battling for the last year and a half, we thought it fitting to bring you some insights into his life, his creativity, his view of getting older, and his way of working.
KCRW’s Resident DJ is a sonic laboratory where artists are invited to reinvent, reimagine, and lean into their most eclectic, creative impulses. Resident DJ airs every Thursday night/Friday morning from midnight to 1 a.m. PT, and can be streamed anytime on the KCRW app. Just in time for Pride Month, Hercules & Love Affair will be our Resident DJ for June 2026.
