Dec 7, 2025

Elbow’s Guy Garvey and Pete Turner drop into KCRW for a conversation with Chris Douridas as they wrap a North American tour. The Manchester band discuss sobriety and their 2024 release Audio Vertigo.

They also break down tracks including “Things I’ve Been Telling Myself For Years" and “Her to the Earth,” with the latter coming together from a strange old Electone organ groove and verses inspired by a Talk Talk chorus.

Garvey and Turner look back on growing up in Bury outside Manchester, the band’s early Mr. Soft/Soft era, and the simple rule that’s kept Elbow together for 35 years: when something’s off, they sit down and talk it through.
