Laura Avery is the market manager for the Santa Monica Farmers' Market. This week she talks to Michael Fiorelli, chef and partner at Love & Salt in Manhattan Beach. He is roasting whole carrots and using the carrot tops to make a pesto.

Arturo Reyes grows the carrots that Fiorelli likes from McGrath Family Farms. He brings three colors of the carrots to the market year round.

We've got a recipe for Michael Fiorelli's Carrot Top Pesto on the Good Food blog.
