Gretchen’s Pie earned her a third place ribbon in the Tim Burton Inspired Pie category at the Third Annual Good Food Pie Contest. Read Gretchen’s story below…

The pie I made was a Chocolate Chess Pie & to my surprise came in third in the Tim Burton category! And I have to give credit to my husband for helping me with the stencil for the pie I brought to the contest. Couldn’t have made it look so good without him! I moved to LA from Ohio 9 years ago and work for a property management company. During the winter my husband and I enjoy snowboarding. My baking, which I don’t do enough, started with my 4-H projects every summer for the county fair. Every summer was a different cooking project and also a bake-off. I decided to make the Chocolate Chess Pie simply because it is my favorite (and it’s so simple!) and hadn’t made it in awhile. This gave me a good reason to dust off the recipe and make a couple.

Keep reading for the complete recipe…

    Dash of salt

    – Pour the mixture into a pastry lined tart pan or pie plate.

    – Bake in the 325 oven about 50 minutes or until puffed over the entire surface.
