This story comes to us from Christopher Olin.

If you’re staying in for Valentine’s Day and still don’t have anything lined up, we’ve got a rescue plan that takes place in the comfort of your own home.

KCRW’s Christopher Olin speaks with L.A. bartender Brandyn Tepper (Apartment A) who says a few simple ingredients can turn your stay-at-home holiday into a truly romantic affair.

    RASPBERRY TOM COLLINS

    ice cubes

    2-4 raspberries

    2 oz. dry gin

    3/4 oz. lemon juice

    3/4 oz. simple sugar

    chilled sparkling rose

    slice of lemon

Add raspberries, lemon juice and syrup to a cocktail shaker* and muddle. Add ample ice and gin and shake briefly. Pour into a tall glass and top with sparkling rose. Stir well and serve with a lemon slice and a straw.

*If you don’t have a cocktail shaker, use a tall glass and stir everything instead of shaking

    ROSE PETAL

    ice cubes

    2-4 raspberries

    2 oz. dry gin

    3/4 oz. lemon juice

    3/4 oz. simple sugar

    1 egg white

Add raspberries, lemon juice and syrup to a cocktail shaker* and muddle. Add ample ice and gin and shake briefly. Pour into a tall glass and top with sparkling rose. Stir well and serve with a lemon slice and a straw.

Not sure how to make about simple syrup. Here’s a simple recipe:

    SIMPLE SYRUP

    1 cup white sugar

    1 cup water

In a medium saucepan combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil, stirring, until sugar has dissolved. Allow to cool.
