The Olympia Oyster
Rowan Jacobsen is the author of The Living Shore: Rediscovering a Lost World . He traveled with a group of marine scientists to a remote area of British Columbia to study the Olympia oyster. It is the only oyster variety native to the Pacific coast of North America. They have since been depleted by pollution and over-harvesting.
