Fanatic. Hello from Perth Australia. So great to be back. One of the first things I did after landing in Melbourne a few days ago was schedule a visit to Strangeworld Records. Richie Ramone runs a great shop. He’s the reason why we’ve had so many great Australian bands on our show over the years. As I’d hoped, Richie had a great stack of records to play for me and I emerged hours later with quite a few which we’ll get into later in the summer. https://www.strangeworldrecords.com.au

On Friday, I had a long day of press and one of the interviews was on Michael Mulholland’s show Junkyard on 106.7 PBS. I haven’t seen Michael since I was here in 2016. He’s got a great show and just as he did in 2016, he switched me on to a few more bands I’d never heard of. I found the records and we’ll be getting into them as well as soon as possible. https://www.pbsfm.org.au/program/junkyard

I got to meet members of Blonde Revolver at Triple R, which was really cool. I was on a show there called Neon Sunset, hosted by Annaliese. https://www.rrr.org.au/explore/programs/neon-sunset/ She’s got a band called Lothario. We’ll be getting into tracks from their 7” soon. https://lotharioxx.bandcamp.com/album/drunk-fuck-black-hair-single

The prospect of such a large amount of new music coming into the show is very exciting. We’re always looking for new music to bring into the show and a trip to Australia always supplies. There’s a lot of record stores yet to be checked out on this run, so hopefully this is just the start.

In a breathtaking communication breakdown, I wasn’t alerted about the new Bobby Lees album Bellevue which came out last year (ow!). We would have been playing it since then. It’s really great. https://thebobbylees.bandcamp.com/album/bellevue

Algy Ward, bassist from the Damned’s Machine Gun Etiquette era has passed away. It’s a great album which I hope you have. Seeing him play with the Damned in 1979 was a highpoint for me.

As always, Fanatic, we’ve got what you will hopefully find to be a great two hours of listening as we settle in for the long bake of summer. More next week.

My Australian dates start this week.

Hydrate with care and stay Fanatic.
