    May 27, 2025

Bootsy Collins — bass legend, funk pioneer, omnipresent collaborator (James Brown, Parliament Funkadelic, Fatboy Slim, etc.) — is KCRW’s latest guest selector. He joins us on the heels of dropping his 23rd (!) studio album, Album Of The Year #1 Funkateer. Click that player button on this page to hear his candid stories from 50+ years in the biz, his philosophy for adapting with the changing times, and a few of his very favorite songs; his own, and those made by the fellow musicians he admires most.

    Bootsy Collins’ KCRW Guest Selects:

“Album Of The Year #1 Funkateer” – Bootsy Collins, Bootdullivan & Myra Washington

    “Yo-Mama-Loves-Ya” – Bootsy Collins

“I Was Made To Love Her” – Stevie Wonder (James Jamerson on bass)

    “If 6 Was 9” – Jimi Hendrix

“Your Precious Love” – Marvin Gaye & Tammi Tarrell
