Few albums arrive with the kind of depth charge that Tricky's debut album, Maxinquaye, made on popular music in 1995. Even now, 31 years on, it maintains every drop of its head-swimmingly hypnotic power. Tricky made his KCRW debut several months after its US release, following his first support tour with PJ Harvey. He chats with Chris Douridas about his musical heritage, the origins of the album's evocative title, and the nature of his creative process.
