Are you ready to feel inspired… really inspired? Assuming the answer is yes, we suggest you immediately connect with this guest selector set from Leah Chisholm, known professionally as LP Giobbi. She’s a classically trained jazz pianist, highly skilled dance music producer, AND the leader of both Femme House — a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that advocates for gender inclusion and equity in the electronic world — and Yes Yes Yes — a pantheistic record label. She’s also the daughter of a long time public radio employee and a legacy Deadhead by way of both of her parents. These parents, who she refers to as her “favorite people,” inadvertently gave her the title for her forthcoming album Dotr (due Oct. 18 via Counter Records). The name refers to how she used to sign her notes of affection to the ‘rents, with dotr being how a young Chisholm assumed the word daughter was spelled. As a perpetually touring DJ and live performer, Chisholm created Dotr as “an attempt to capture some semblance of home while in motion.” Everything that we’ve heard from the record so far achieves this — especially the collabs with a few of Chisholm’s own favorite artists including Portugal. The Man and Alabama Shakes.

Her KCRW guest DJ set serves as a Grateful Dead starter pack, with one classic track and Chisholm’s own remix of Dead frontman Jerry Garcia’s “Deal.” Plus, a prime example of “Femme House” in action and a rising dance music artist that you simply must hear. Scroll on to peep the tracks, but be sure to listen to the full chat if you want to feel really (*really) good about the future of humanity.

And you can keep those good feelings flowing by entering to win a pair of tickets to catch LP Giobbi working her piano-based house music magic live at the Fonda Theatre on Saturday, Nov. 16.
