UK Singer-songwriter Romy’s guest DJ set teases out the guitar stylings she’s studying for the next XX album, and gives us more background on “Mid Air.”
UK Singer-songwriter Romy, best known as the lead guitarist and vocalist for Mercury Prize winning indie dance trio The XX, has a way with dark and twisty tones that burrow into their listeners’ subconscious while simultaneously beckoning them to the dance floor.
Her debut solo LP Mid Air, trades the brooding for exuberance and eschews the guitar altogether in favor of harder house beats. She’s here to break it all down for us, while also letting us know that the XX are currently in the studio crafting their next record. Her guest DJ set offers a glimpse into the guitar styles she’s studying for that one AND includes a story about her and her wife getting spat on by Madonna (in a good way).
