Dec 16, 2022

Morning Becomes FREAKY as FREAKS ONLY host Travis Holcombe drops by for a long hang. Hear about the fateful cross country drive that led him to KCRW, the artists he wants us to keep our ears out for in 2023, and his experience of chatting with 2022’s Breakthrough Artist Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul during their sweat-it-all-out set KCRW Live From HQ. Hear the full session which goes deep on the duo’s approach to creating their irreverent sound, the origins of the name “Bolis Pupul,” and Adigéry’s assertion that she’s “the most herself when she’s onstage.”

Every week night at 10pm, Holcombe leaves us with his signature phrase, “May the funk be with you.” If you’re wondering what that might sound like inflected with a little daylight, then you’re definitely gonna want to keep listening.

The funk will be at the Echo on NYE with a dance party for the ages from Machinedrum + Jimmy Edgar + Bianca Oblivion + Jubilee. We’re giving away 5 pairs of tickets, and we believe the funk will be with you if you enter to win right now.
