How do you pick a mere hour worth of covers from all the goodies out there?

How do you pick a mere hour worth of covers from all the goodies out there? The answer is: it’s nearly impossible. But we’re packing them into our latest covers-themed show to bring you a sampling of hot-takes-on-classics from around the globe. Plus, a truly eclectic mix from YOU, our trusted requester selectors.

Novena’s feeling covers that take the original and move into a different language or genre, as on LA-based, Lebanese-American vocalist Mayssa Karaa’s rendition of Jefferson Airplane’s “White Rabbit” — in Arabic! Or THOOL & Marieke covering Joe Jackson’s “Steppin Out” in… French? German??

Anthony’s take on covers today: When the rework truly moves you and gives you all the feels, like Jimmy Scott’s 1999 version of “Nothing Compares 2 U,” originally written by Prince and made pop famous by Sinéad O'Connor. Scott had a rare genetic disorder that prevented him from reaching puberty and left him with a uniquely stunning high-pitched voice. Turns out he was a beloved regular on MBE back in the late ‘90s!

And last but not least, our weatherman Mr. David Lynch’s own cover request: “In This Mortal Coil’s version [of Tim Buckley original “Song to the Siren”] — this music is some of the most beautiful ever.” Wowza!

You just might want to hop back under the covers with a pair of headphones and glass of your favorite beverage for maximal enjoyment of this trip down cover lane…
