Jun 13, 2023

When New Delhi symphonic indie pop band Peter Cat Recording Co. came through KCRW HQ last month for their guest DJ set, no one from KCRW Music had yet seen them play live. After catching their show at the Echo after their drop by, we knew we had to have them back right away to bring the full experience to KCRW’s Annenberg Performance Studio.

With the band’s stay in SoCal infinitely extended to incorporate more sold out shows — including at one at legendary Sunset Strip venue The Roxy — Peter Cat Recording Co. were able to return and properly rock HQ. Dive into today’s MBE for an enveloping set of standouts from the group’s fervently beloved 2019 LP Bismillah. “Floated By,” “I’m This,” and “Heera” are all in the mix. And by the time their fiery, discofied set closer “Memory Box” comes along you’ll be dusting off all of your best moves.

Speaking of moves, the rest of today’s MBE feels especially ready for the floor. From the sultry strut of Santa Monica band Pink $ock’s new single “Something In Between” to the “Freak Out” fun of Baba Ali remixing Baaba Mal — we’re coming for your sweat.
