KCRW’s Summer Nights lineup just launched and sheeeesh, we couldn’t think of a better way to come back. We’ve got all the parties to fill your summer and then some — we’re talking 15 live shows that are free, open to all ages, and feature a curated lineup of top notch artists and DJs. KCRW is teaming up with iconic LA institutions including the Hammer Museum, Chinatown, CAAM, Descanso Gardens, and many more. Today we’re spinning a new one from an artist by the name of Tex, who caught our attention with just two singles under his belt. The Copenhagen-based creative/singer/songwriter is inspired by the stylings of Frank Zappa, The Doors and ’60s Afro soul cuts. Quite frankly, there’s not much out there like it with his unique sonic textures and charming falsetto.
Plus, we celebrate the life of legendary house producer Patrick Adams, who passed away this morning at 72, with his classic gem “Atmosphere Strut,” covered by Louie Vega.
