What do Ty Segall, Boz Scaggs, and Seu Jorge all have in common? Beyond great music, all three Geminis are celebrating birthdays today! Former Steve Miller Band vocalist and guitarist Scaggs brings the heat on the 1976 release “Lowdown,” which you may also recognize from the sample on Disclosure’s 2020 house groover “Expressing What Matters.”

We’ve got a timely Top Tune today from Kate Bollinger, who made a return on KCRW’s Top 30 Chart this week and delved into her process and inspiration on a recent episode of FREAKS ONLY’s 3 Song Story. Bollinger got a big push when Kanye West (also celebrating a birthday today… ) sampled her song “Candy” on his album “Donda.” Inspired by tracks from the ‘60s and ‘70s, Bollinger’s “Look at it in the Light” is the title track off her new album.

Plus, Femi Kuti and Gregory Porter bring the jazz vibes to work through your Wednesday. And we’ve got another box at the Bowl to give away for day two of the Hollywood Jazz Festival! Enter for your chance to win tickets to a delightful day for you and three friends.
