Spring is here! Celebrate with Iranian jams for the Persian new year, wise words on World Poetry day, and Spoon’s Britt Daniel talks with Adrian Sherwood about “Lucifer on the Moon.”
Mar 21, 2023

It’s still raining, but we’ve got a heavy dose of Spring celebration in store. First up, the cool beats, synths, and original sounds of Omid Walizadeh, an Iranian composer and producer brought to our attention by fellow KCRW DJ Nassir Nassirzadeh for Persian New Year, Nowruz.

We also celebrate World Poetry Day with the latest track from blues surrealist poet, artist, and cultural worker Aja Monet, who provides a sonic ode to humanity’s struggle and reaching for a better society on “The Devil You Know.”

Plus, if you’re a fan of Austin-based rock n rollers, delicious dub sounds, or perhaps both, we’ve got the inside scoop on Spoon’s Lucifer on the Moon, the dub reimagining of the band’s Grammy-nominated LP Lucifer on the Sofa. Frontman Britt Daniel and legendary UK producer Adrian Sherwood (On-U Sound) join KCRW’s Andrea Domaick for a deep dive interview about making the reworked album.
