You are a regular KCRW listener so it’s implied that you’re not a square, but everyone needs a handful of extra cool points to keep for a rainy day. With that in mind, we give you KCRW’s SiLVA and her brand new mix, “Don’t Be A Square: Music from and inspired by Quentin Tarantino movies.” From The Brothers Johnson’s take on “Strawberry Letter 23” to Dick Dale’s iconic version of “Misirlou” — this is the mix to sweat it out to, and reward yourself with a “$5 shake” when you’re done. Adjusted for inflation, a $5 milkshake is actually kind of a steal.

SiLVA also chats with Morning Becomes Eclectic co-host Anthony Valadez about how she decided on this theme, how Tarantino’s commitment to shooting on film echoes DJs that commit to spinning vinyl only, and why she’s including The Universal Togetherness Band’s “More Than Enough,” a track which hasn’t appeared in a Tarantino movie… yet.
