Bossa Nova first brought celebrated guitarist Smokey Hormel and Cibo Matto-s Miho Hatori together in 2000 to create a band inspired by their early experiences and continuing love of the Brazilian sound. An EP of mainly self-written samba-driven songs (Os Afros Sambas) followed in February 2002.
