    Gay conversion therapy persists in California, despite SCOTUS ban

    The Supreme Court upheld a California law banning gay conversion therapy. So why is it still happening in the state? Also, German Chancellor Angela Merkel met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. She brought up the detention of gay men in Chechnya, where more than 100 men have been rounded up and tortured.

      German Chancellor Angela Merkel met with Russian President Vladimir Putin today in Sochi. She urged him to protect the rights of minorities. She talked about reports gay men are being rounded up and tortured in Chechnya. More than 100 men have reportedly been arrested and sent to detention centers.

      Yesterday the Supreme Court upheld a California law that bans gay conversion therapy. That law has been in place since 2012 and was the first of its kind in the country. It bans licensed therapists, doctors, and social workers from using conversion techniques on children.
