It was titled “I Found the Best Burger Place in America -- And Then I Killed It.” Kevin Alexander wrote it for Thrillist. After trying hundreds of burgers across the country, he ranked a family sports bar in Portland -- Stanich’s -- the best burger in America. Less than a year later, Stanich’s closed ostensibly because the restaurant’s management couldn’t handle the restaurant’s newfound popularity. But the actual story turned out to be much more complicated than that.
