President-elect Joe Biden said on the campaign trail that he hopes to have a close relationship with his vice president. Kamala Harris will be the first woman – and first Black and first South Asian – vice president of the United States.

California Congresswoman Karen Bass says that in the next four years, California politicians, especially House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, will play crucial supporting roles of a Biden administration.

LA Mayor Eric Garcetti has also been a close ally of Joe Biden’s, and he endorsed him early during the race.

“Whether it's on immigration, or housing and homelessness, on our climate, on so many things, I expect an administration that will not only listen to cities, but take the lead from cities, as well as assist us through the greatest crisis of our lives and as COVID pandemic,” Garcetti says.

The mayor adds that he expects major progress on immigration. “Joe Biden has been extremely clear. And I've helped him write some of these policies that he's promised in the first 100 days, to not only have Dreamers and DACA reinstated … but for all those immigrants that are not qualified under DACA, to have comprehensive legislation introduced and hopefully passed.”
