    Why are hundreds of California recycling centers closing?

    Recycling centers -- those places where you bring your bottles and cans and get a little change in return – are closing. On Monday, nearly 300 of those centers were shut down across California, and 750 workers were laid off.

On Monday, nearly 300 of those centers were shut down across California, and 750 workers were laid off. That's despite Governor Gavin Newsom including an additional $5 million subsidy in the new budget for low-volume recyclers.
