    Almost half the members of LA Unified's teachers' union have voted " no confidence " in reform-minded Superintendent John Deasy. Out of 33,000 members, the count was 16,040 to 1,647.

    Almost half the members of LA Unified's teachers' union have voted "no confidence" in reform-minded Superintendent John Deasy. Out of 33,000 members, the count was 16,040 to 1,647. Even before the vote was tallied, Deasy said he was "too busy working to serve all students… to pay attention to this nonsense." But he says he is "gratified and heartened" by a poll by a new coalition of civic and community groups that's very supportive of his efforts.
