Prospects for Lakers and Kobe Bryant after His Achilles Rupture

The LA Lakers defeated the San Antonio Spurs last night at Staples Center, a surprise for more than one reason. The Spurs have the much better record this season. But, more importantly, the Lakers were one man short: the man who's been playing almost every minute of every recent game — even when team officials wished that he wouldn't.

The LA Lakers defeated the San Antonio Spurs last night at Staples Center, a surprise for more than one reason. The Spurs have the much better record this season. But, more importantly, the Lakers were one man short: the man who's been playing almost every minute of every recent game — even when team officials wished that he wouldn't. Kobe Bryant is out for the season and maybe longer than that.
