    LAUSD Superintendent John Deasy has dismissed a vote of no-confidence from the teachers' union as "nonsense." He's happy that a poll of civic groups is supportive of his reforms. But that's just part of the story. How did the no-confidence vote get started? What does it mean for the kids? We hear from teachers on both sides of the vote who may agree with each other more than they disagree. Also, is Kobe Bryant's torn Achilles tendon the end of an era?

    On our rebroadcast of today's To the Point, companies get patents on human genes to give them incentive to conduct expensive research into what those genes can reveal about an individual's chances of contracting disease. But is that patenting life itself? We hear about today's arguments at the US Supreme Court in a case that could determine the future of "personalized medicine."
