After two games in Australia and three in San Diego, the Dodgers will face the San Francisco Giants tomorrow on opening day in Chavez Ravine. With the biggest payroll in Major League Baseball, expectations could not be higher. But off the field, it's the Dodgers versus Los Angeles. Also, an ancient landmark is about to re-open in downtown LA, stirring memories of Bugsy Siegel, Charles Manson and Marilyn Monroe.

Later, on To the Point, this weekends presidential election could determine how much longer US forces remain in Afghanistan. Has Americas longest war paved the way for real democracy? Will violence and voter fraud compromise much-needed legitimacy for a new president?
