Alan Cheuse's Prayers for the Living is published by Fig Tree Books, a new publisher dedicated to Jewish-American writing. The book takes the voice of conventional motherhood – compassion, support, concern for the family – and explores the decline and fall of an American family . The "voice of NPR book reviews" takes a singular opportunity – the discussion of his own novel with KCRW's bookworm, Michael Silverblatt.
