In 1965, a young Linda Rosenkrantz had the novel idea to tape record her friends on the beach in East Hampton. The result was Talk (NYRB Classics), in which anything could become a subject for conversation, especially at a time of cultural liberation – art, literature, sexual fringe – it was all discussed. Today the book reads well, as smart and up-to-date as an episode of Girls or Broad City – after half a century it's still a terrific beach read for the hip Bookworm audience.
