Awesome Foundation Announces First Los Angeles-based Grant Recipient

Last August, the Awesome Foundation began awarding $1,000 microgrants to further food awesomeness in the world.  The foundation has awarded their eighth grant to L.A. based restaurant project Thank You For Coming.  The collaborative restaurant will operate out of a former gallery and tattoo parlor in Atwater Village, where the staff will rotate through a residency program inviting the public to actively participate in the restaurant’s operations from foraging ingredients to cooking a meal.  The space is scheduled to open in June where its four owners – Laura Noguera, Jonathan Robert, Jenn Su Taohan, and Cynthia Su Taopin – will oversee and facilitate the residency program and general operation of the restaurant.  Their backgrounds range from teacher, scientist, artist, master gardeners and food preservers.  They’ll use their grant to help cover start-up costs associated with permits and renovations.  The foursome is also running a Kickstarter project that ends on April 21 to raise $10,000.
