That may have been a more appropriate name for this past weekend’s Food Book Fair in Brooklyn, NY. Held in the uber-hip Wythe Hotel (see for yourself) which opened a mere 8 days ago, big wigs like April Bloomfield and Harold McGee rubbed elbows with food world newbies White Zinfandel and the DC based food-zine The Runcible Spoon. Panels ranged from FOOD + PORN to a key note speech from Marion Nestle titled Why Food? Why Now? But I was there for the mags. Dubbed “Foodieodicals,” the curated group of food magazines and zines ranged from arthouse spreads to precious $20 mini mags featuring articles on local butchers and how to make ramp pesto.
