Field to the Fork

Evan and I went to Field to the Fork on Saturday at Leonesse Cellars in Temecula.  What a setting!  The rolling hills in the background was dramatic and gorgeous.  We dined on small plates of ravioli, pork cheeks, kobe beef, loquat shooters (a favorite), and mini strawberry tarts.  Temecula vineyards poured local wine and beer was provided by Stone Brewing Company.  But that’s not the good part.  My favorite part of the day was when a young girl, probably about 13, approached us about a raffle ticket.  She was wearing a Slow Food t-shirt.  A few minutes later she was telling us about the squash and cabbage that they were growing in their school garden.  She was adorable and passionate!  The event was a fundraiser for their school garden programs, which are flourishing down there.  It warmed our hearts – almost as much as the artisanly roasted Klatch Colombian Coffee.
